Seriously I think it was supposed to be symbolic of he knew the end was coming and he forgave Light for the inevitable betrayal...people (coughfangirlscough) just decided that it was a "gay" moment... sigh
answering the question why they put the feet cleaning/massaging thing in the anime, anyone is familiar with the seven sins and virtues? the reason they put L giving light a foot rub is because light represents the sin of pride and the virtue to combat that sin is humility, in the bible i think jesus washed his disciples feet in an act of humility before he was crucified and for a long time it was a common practice in the catholic church the "washing of the feet" (im dead serious)
I clicked on that link and saw L giving Light a foot massage. Sure, it was mostly done offscreen, but WHY would the DN makers put something like that on the show?!?!?? Please, I would appreciate suggestions from anyone that can answer my question. I've seen all sorts of overly emotional moments in many anime, between the opposite sex and even the same sex, and I still find it unnecessary!! Ahem...still, thanks for putting this up. I didn't (COULDN'T BEAR TO) watch the whole youtube video; does Light actually massage L?? I can take the truth.
lol, exactly. Oh, definitely. The ending was intense. I don't like what they did with the anime ending >C I mean, the blood spurt was awesome, but they made Light look like he had repented for what he had done, when in the manga he hadn't and they just showed how he went that insane.

When I saw that scene in the anime I was like 'Awkward...' I like the manga better! Manga always better. If you think about it L has to have feet like that, he doesnt were shoes or socks all the time, something to think about...
