David Tennant by EatToast David Tennant by EatToast
EDIT: that file size was ridiculously small. so now you can actually see the drawing :icondurrhurrplz:

It's been a million years since I uploaded anything here, so here's a sketch of David Tennant I did last night. It was a lot of fun to draw, although his wonky ears are a little unnerving, so whenever I watch him on TV from now on, they're the only thing I'm going to be able to look at.

Red ballpoint pen, about an hour's work. The drawing is about 6 x 8 inches?

:icondoctorfrogplz::iconsaysplz: y u no like my ears?

also, he's rockin the bowtie. :D

You are brilliant with a ball point pen lady.

I've picked up drawling again but I'm going with nib and ink. It's very hard to back into since I haven't really drawn in almost ten years.

Pens are always too daunting for me to work with, I'm terrified I'll totally botch something up all the time when I'm using them :B

For the love of- YOU KEEP DRAWING ART OF EVERY SINGLE THING I LIKE. GET OUT OF MY HEAD.
...actually, no, scratch that, stay there as long as you like X'D

This is great, I always have trouble with Tennant's face, but you got it pretty spot on C:

Thank you! Pens can be a bit of a pain, especially when the glob up on you, so it's handy to have a tissue around, but other than that, I love them. They give such a nice line, and have the ability of soft sketchy lines like pencils. Tennant's got a really interesting really weird looking face, it makes for a lot of fun to draw.

glad you like it, I'll draw you a Tennant next show you see me at. :XD:

I think that's what I'll try and work on next; getting over my ridiculous fear of pens. Any basic tips for one with little practice with them? |D
And his face really is fun to try to draw, it's very odd and unique. Matt Smith's is like that too; his is equally as odd, and fun to try to properly get down.

Ahaha, it's more of a general Doctor Who love than a Tennant love (not that I have anything against Tennant, he's brilliant) XD

I have a terrible time with Matt Smith's face, he's so bony, and angular, he always ends up looking a bit too much like a skeleton person. As far as pen practice goes, I would just start out playing around, drawing some simple things until you get a feel for how the pen works, when it's going to glob up, and figuring out the pressure points you can give it. Cheapo ballpoint pens from dollar stores and things are my favorite. There's not a whole lot to them, but there are a few things you have to develop a feel for, and when you do, the medium becomes much more user friendly.

I really like drawing directly in ink.
Doesn't matter the kind, so long as it's not erasable.
'Cuz then if you mismark or something, you have to roll with it.

You gave him quite a nice nose, too.
He's rockin' it along with the bowtie~

Thank you so much! I love drawing in pen, seeing the skeleton of a drawing in its final product I think is really fun. Also, I'm terrible at pencil sketches, so pen is my only other option :XD:

He has a fantastic nose, it was my favorite thing to draw out of all of this. :D

Haha. xD
I really like that look, too. To the point of I never erase my pencil sketch after inking it (even when I color). lD
Gives an extra layer of character to it, you know?

Heh. It looks wonderful~
